4 Reasons Your AC Is Not Cooling Your Home Evenly
If your home isn’t cooled evenly, it can be a major annoyance. You may not be able to get comfortable in some parts of your home, and you might have to adjust the thermostat multiple times throughout the day in order to be comfortable wherever you are in your home. Here are four reasons that your Murrell’s Inlet, SC home AC is not cooling evenly.
1. Blocked Vents
Over time, vents can become blocked by dust, furniture or other objects. This blockage can restrict airflow and prevent your AC from adequately circulating cool air. Thankfully, cleaning or removing objects from your vents is often all it takes to fix the problem.
2. Dirty or Frozen Coils
The coils in your AC unit are responsible for absorbing heat from the indoors and releasing it outdoors. If the coils are dirty, they won’t be able to absorb heat as effectively. In some cases, the coils can even freeze over if there’s too much moisture in the air, preventing the AC from working altogether.
3. Low or Leaking Refrigerant
When the amount of refrigerant in your AC unit is low, it can cause the unit to work harder to cool your home, which can lead to uneven cooling. In addition, if there is a leak in your AC unit’s refrigerant line, the coolant can escape and cause the unit to work less efficiently.
4. Malfunctioning Compressor
The compressor is responsible for circulating refrigerant throughout the AC system. If the compressor is not working properly, it can cause the refrigerant to get trapped in certain areas, preventing it from reaching other areas of the home. In some cases, a faulty compressor may also cause your AC to make strange noises or smell bad, leading to poor indoor air quality.
